Some days

I've only got round to writing about some days, but Liz has requested I publish, so here they are! More will follow, in reverse order I suspect, as it is logical.

Sunday 12th Feb - Hangover
Was hung over, but had planned to see my sister (as she didn't come to Dan's gig on the Friday cause of the spot on her nose). Eventually managed to get the train home for about 2. We went and saw Walk The Line**. I enjoyed it! But secretly I'm a country fan. I want to live in the era that I can wear those sort of dresses without looking odd. It did get a bit long at one point but I still would watch it again. Then I went back to my parents and we chucked*** out a load of clothes that are just too big/unflattering. It was ace! I have a whole empty wardrobe at home. Except for all the coathangers that seem to be storing themselves there now. Then we had a nice meal and I got a lift home and my parents took away the big bag of clothes I chucked*** out from this house too.

Sat 11th Feb - La Fabulous Cafeteria
Put on 2 at Fat Club through being naughty all week. Was grumpy. Bought a music theory book and got the bus home. Didn't go home. Went to Charlotte's and grumped around her house all afternoon. It was nice! It was like when we lived together. Half asleep and lounging and watching rubbish films and stuff. Then I went home and got ready for going out. It was Murray's birthday, so we went to Harry's Bar then Fab Cafe. It was... Interesting! I haven't seen those bunch a lot since me and Al split up, as they're "his" friends. There was Charlotte and Dan (who I see lots, so wasn't referring to then!), Murray, Simon, James, Murray's friend (Dave?) and later on Emily* and her boyfriend. Can't remember his name either. I got drunk and talked to everyone and had a nice time.

*Emily is the girl Al was going out/living with before me. She calls me "The Evil One", which although a bit mean, I am happy to live with. As far as I'm concerned I didn't notice Al liked me until he told me and I made sure he was single. As far as she's concerned I'm the reason she was dumped cause she could tell he liked me and tried to keep him away from me. Either way, I'm sticking to my version, she can stick to hers and call me evil. **We went to the cinema we both used to work in. It was strange that I can hardly remember it at all! Whether that's cause it was 7 years ago, or whether it's because most memories include Laszlo and I've blocked them out, I just don't know. Either way, it was odd. On top of the Al reminder weekend it was a odd.
***By chucked, I mean put in the bin that takes clothes and decides if they are useful and gives them to charities, or recyles them if they can't be worn as is. Just in case people worried about my morals.

Cleavage

I'm accidentally wearing a vest top to work. It's very distracting.

I love Lit.

That's all for now. I might catch up when I get home, but it's still too cold to spend long in my room. And work's pretty busy, so I can't do it here.

20p

So, I had a very long, dull and miserable week until last night, which was ace.

Monday 6th Feb
Work. Then Liz came over and despite the use of Girl Power and spanners, we failed to make my heating work. We did manage to get the pressure back up to 1 though, which is how we thought it'd fix. Oh well. Pretending we were being ace was fun. Then Liz went home to make sure her housemate knew she was still alive and I watched ER, with hot water bottle.

Tuesday 7th Feb
Work. Nearly didn't go to orchestra cause it was raining, but did and discovered that the concert will probably be on 6th May, so hopefully I won't be living here and can't be in it. In a way I'll be happy that I had 13 CAOS concerts.

Wednesday 8th Feb
Work. No-one at work wanted to go for a drink, so I went home and got cold. Made Fantastic Lasagne (it's official title) with onions and mushrooms and courgette and spinach and cottage cheese. Mmmm! Then watched The Bill and had a bath. Exciting stuff.

Thursday 9th Feb (yesterday)
Work. Home. MUGSS. MUGSS was odd, as I feel I should go, but actually can't do much at a rehearsal. Need to be motivated. But think it's coming. Forgot that Jo (the director) wasn't there as she's in a different show this week, so left and went to the Ra!n Bar pub quiz. Didn't participate much, as I'm thick. Chatted to Liz mostly. And drank beer. I don't remember drinking beer for ages there. I may be wrong. Then a bunch of us (Goonie based) went to Retro Bar for a night which was ace. On paper. In real life it was a bit odd. But I was drunk and talked to people. Then talked to Leila and Mia in the toilets. Well, listened. Then realised it was upsetting me lots, so I went home.

Friday 10th Feb
Work. Throughout work I mostly felt hung over. Nice. After work I went to see Slugs Ate My Parents at the Waldorf. It was fun! A little odd, cause Al was there and I haven't seen him for ages. But fine. I've never noticed smoke affect* me that much before though. It was making my eyes run and my nose be all blocked. Ew. Dan was good, as always. The second band were fun and ok, but not really in tune or together (but I only really noticed this after the next band were). They did have a very cute trombone player though. I remember him from last time they played at the same thing as Dan (The Green Rooms in November). The next band were excellently rehearsed, just not that interesting. There you go - what a fantastic review!! I've just got in from that and now freezing and going to bed. I have to get up for Fat Club. Am not looking forward to it cause I've been miserable all week, so eaten what I wanted.

Anyone wondering why I called it 20p?

The 20p story
Sometime before going I went home on Thursday, Pete went home. As he was leaving I found 20p on the floor, so picked it up and passed it to Pete. It seemed the best thing to do. He then thought the best thing to do would be throw it down my top. Also, a pretty normal thing to do. So I caught it and stored it in my bra. This is quite common for those who don't know me. This might sound like a pointless story, and so far, I guess it is. I went home, undressed and went to bed. I'm not sure what other women do, but I take my bra off before bed (I think I only know 1 who doesn't). So you can imagine my confusion this morning when I went to the bathroom, took off my pyjamas and found a 20p stuck to my breast in the exact same place. Ew! And I wriggled a lot before getting up (cause I really didn't want to) so it must have been really sticky. Gross gross gross.

*Mahinda - I still don't know which one's which!!

Another week...

I don't mean to keep leaving it a week between blogs. Mainly cause I then want to write everything I've done and the post gets far too long. But tough. This blog is for me.

Monday 30th Jan
Belle and Sebastian. They were alright... I wasn't impressed by the first few songs. They had loads if different instruments who all appeared to be playing the same tune. And it all seemed pretty basic. I could have played the violin part given a couple of hours. So that didn't impress me. The only bit that did was the trumpet cause I can't play that. I suspect if I could I would still have been impressed cause he was very cute. They did get better when they got more lively. The crowd seemed pretty dull for the first half hour at least. Strange considering it was sold out, so I would have thought they were hard core fans. Overall I'm glad I went cause it was fun and nice, but not musically impressive.

Wednesday 1st Feb
Melissa's last night! Grump. But we celebrated in style by going to the ceilidh. It was a strange ceilidh for a number of reasons:

  • My sisters came. They've never been before, and weren't sure they'd like it. I think they did.
  • I sat out a number of dances. This doesn't usually happen.
  • There were a number of people* there that I didn't expect. And from parts of my life that I don't necessarily like to think about when at a ceilidh.
  • I forgot how much I fancy one of the regular ceilidh goers. Looking forward to next month already! And will pick an excellent outfit.
  • I got drunk.

Thursday 2nd Feb
I took the day off sick. I feel a bit naughty, as I was blatantly hung over. But I was ill too. I'd been feeling rubbish for a few days and been playing too much. I knew I'd be useless. So I stayed home. Diagnosis Murder wasn't even on though. Melissa left at 5.30am. Crazy girl. I miss her. In the evening I went to MUGSS. We had a production meeting and then rehearsal. I really haven't done very much for the show, but the panic has not yet set in. Oh well. Got bored of rehearsal, so went to Rain Bar to join the quiz. The quiz master will talk to everyone except me! Pah.

Friday 3rd Feb
Work. So very, very tired. So after work I went straight out to meet Linden. I knew going home and finding sofa would result in napping. So went to Corbieres and found Linden, Ed (and Graham and Mike from his work), Ant (Linden's friend from Stoke) and his 2 friends. I like that place! It felt like you were in Star Wars. And I've just discovered it's on Half Moon Street. I want to live there now. After a couple of diet cokes we went for dinner at the Waterhouse. I then went to find Liz/Charlotte/Dan/Miranda/Steve/Cassie/Andy/Justin at Knott Bar. By this point I had lost the power of conversation, despite how much coke I'd drunk. So I went to find the ski crowd in Tiger Lounge (so Mark didn't hate me forever) briefly before being lame and going home. In Tiger Lounge me and Jenn watched safety videos, the best of which was possibly Alvin Stardust teaching kids to cross the road. I went home and was grumpy at Dan (purely cause I was so tired), so to make up for it (and because I said I would) I sewed his trousers. Got to bed about 1.

Saturday 4th Feb
Woke up about 6. Grump. But it's ok, as I'd made Mark promise to wake me up when he came to pick up the others (he'd made me promise to be wearing clothes in bed) so it was only a bit different. Fat club was not a disaster or good. Exactly the same. Then had a big clothes/material clear out (well, only 2 places, so not that much went) and felt better. Spent the evening at Cass/Andyville and played bingo before falling asleep face down on the floor to Withnail and I.

Sunday 5th Feb
Woke up about 5, crawled into bed with Liz. Got up about 11. We went for a stroll around New Mills before going bowling, then to Miranda and Steve's for tea**. Then Cass, Andy and Liz came to mine and I made chilli that slightlytylt too hot to eat (but we all managed) then watched Dogma. I fixed a bag that has been broken about 2 years. Yay! After they went I ended up staying up too late due to washing and cleaning and stuff. But it felt better.

Monday 6th Feb
Work. The highlight of which was trying to get a dog*** out of the road. The plan for tonightvacuumcuum, eat, sit. Maybe with a bit of sewing or something else creative. Hopefully with some heat (I managed to make the radiators not come on since yesterday).

Credit for this post must be given to Pete who inspired the random linkage.

*Paul - drove me and Al to Kent for Andy's funeral. I quite often see him and he doesn't recognise me. I never think it's appropriate to go over and tell him why I know him. He probably doesn't want to think about Andy every night in the pub. I'm sure he thinks about him enough.
*Dean - maths teacher. Makes me realise that I screwed that up.
*Oliver - really good violin player. Makes me remember that I'm not that good and need to do something about it cause it only upsets me.

**I didn't have tea, just incase you were confused, Pete!

***The dog had really bloodshot eyes. I suspect his owner was on drugs and so was the dog. I tried to get it to come to me (as it was stood in the middle of the road) but it didn't. When I walked a bit further I noticed about 3 security men and various other staff were watching the man with interest. I guess I'm glad the crazy high dog didn't come to me after all...
